Apparently May is Mental Health Awareness month. Ten years ago if you had told me I would struggle with anxiety, depression, and OCD regularly and have a few suicidal seasons, I’d have laughed. Only “the weak” struggled with “that stuff”, and I was not weak. HA! Well. Joke’s on me apparently, because I have, in fact, struggled with anxiety, depression and OCD the better part of the last 8 years.
Unrelatedly, I’m trying to familiarize myself with Canva for some design work I’m doing for my favorite non-profit...
So, in honor of those two completely unrelated facts, I decided to relate them and make an alternative mental health resource guide for practice in Canva. The content is a work in progress and there’s so much more I could (and maybe will?) add in the future, but for now, please enjoy….

The random scrawny tulip that pops up in the middle of the yard each spring. He makes me smile :)
Jon doing the grunt work to get the garden ready for planting.
We bought a summer cottage! Jkjk. Touring The Elms mansion in Newport while there for a friend’s wedding. The mansions are completely over the top.
The giant pile of books I’m (overwhelmed with) absorbing currently.
One of the many pics on my phone of the stove, because when OCD flares up I need to make suresuresure that the stove is turned off. Taking a pic is a way to stop the checking loop for me.
Howard and Phyllis, our new neighbors. Yes, we are officially over 30 now.

I’m loving…
→ SUN.SHINE! It’s finally spring/fast approaching summer around here and as one of my friends likes to say, “I’m solar powered!” I’m having jaw surgery (more on that next month) and have to get my Vitamin D levels up in order to give my body the best chance at healing, so I’ve been using the DMinder app to monitor how much sun I can get before I start to burn.
I’m cooking…
→ “Swiss Steak” Pot Roast
Serves 8
In a crockpot or dutch oven combine:
1 chuck roast
1 large onion, sliced thinly
4 cloves garlic, minced
4-6 carrots, sliced
1 can crushed tomatoes
1 cup beef broth
1 t thyme
1 t marjoram
Crockpot: cook on low for 8 hours or until roast is tender
Dutch oven: bake covered at 325’f for 3 hours or until roast is tender
Serve over egg noodles.
I love reading about your wanderings and wonderings…💖
